Mimosa P&C

What does the P&C do?

P&C stands for ‘Parents & Citizens’ Association.  This is a voluntary group of parents who work to raise money and provide extra resources for their school. 

At Mimosa Public School, our P&C is open to all parents and citizens of the school community. The P&C provides a community voice and is instrumental in making changes and suggestions that benefit the school and the students.

The P&C operate the canteen, uniform shop and band program with a combination of paid and volunteer staff. It also coordinates various social events and fundraising activities, with the funds raised contributing greatly to the resources our school provides.

P&C Positions

Each year the P&C holds an Annual General Meeting in February, then regular meetings during school terms throughout the year.

One of the important functions of an Annual General Meeting is to elect the P&C Executive Committee and Sub-committee positions. These positions are held by volunteer parents who are willing to take leadership positions for the P&C.  The positions are held for 1 year, up to a max of 3 years.

The Executive positions are:    

  • President

  • Vice President (2 positions)

  • Secretary

  • Treasurer

The other leadership positions associated with managing the various sub-committees are:

  • Band sub‐committee

  • Canteen sub‐committee

  • Uniform sub‐committee

 

  • Social & Fundraising Sub-committee
  • Environmental & Sustainability sub-committee

 

 

When do we meet?

The P&C meetings are the best way to stay in contact with senior staff at the school and to stay informed with what's going on. P&C meetings are held on Tuesday night in Week 3 & Week 8 each Term. Meetings are held in the library at 7.30pm. Anyone is welcome to attend, and we encourage everyone to come along.

How do I get involved?

There are lots of ways you can get involved in the Mimosa P&C by:

  • attending P&C meetings

  • read the monthly P&C meeting minutes

  • volunteer at fundraising events

  • assist in the Uniform Shop or Canteen

  • get involved in a P&C sub-committee

  • be a parent representative for your child’s class
