Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn.
Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
Student wellbeing is our priority
Supporting each student’s social, emotional and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life at Mimosa Public School. We have high expectations for student behaviour and explicitly teach positive relationships, empathy and problem solving through a variety of school programs.
We support wellbeing through:
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships, supported by the NSW Student Code of Conduct
- a no-tolerance approach to bullying via our Anti-bullying Plan
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families, helping students feel welcome and included
- implementing the Second Step Social and Emotional Learning program
- access to 2 school support dogs and a wellbeing rabbit
- access to 2 school wellbeing mentors and a purpose built wellbeing room
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- strong transition programs for students who are new or changing year level
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication with families about wellbeing and support
- access to a school psychologist and specialist staff.
